As sustainability becomes growingly topical, with the University of Cambridge for example committing to full divestment from fossil fuels by 2030, the emphasis placed upon Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives has also increased. However, the degree to which the financial industry can truly be socially responsible remains controversial.

To shed light on the role which investment banks can play in facilitating sustainability, CIBS and the LSE SU Green Finance Society are pleased to announce “Investing in a Sustainable Future with Macquarie”! We’ll be hosting 4 speakers from Macquarie Group, the leading investment bank in the infrastructure and renewables sectors, working in Macquarie Capital, Asset Management, and Commodities & Global Markets.

The event will include around 30 minutes of panel discussion about Macquarie based on questions from ourselves, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A from the audience. We’ll be addressing the impacts that the work done by different divisions at Macquarie have had, the development of the renewables sector in finance, the key factors an investor in the green space might consider, and the effect that COVID-19 has had on the industry.

Whether you’re interested in sustainability, keen to work at an investment bank, or exploring a career at Macquarie, this event promises to be a great learning experience containing insider insights from leading professionals, so make sure to check it out!
