About us
The LSESU Sociology and Social Justice Society aims to be a vibrant and diverse community engaging with contemporary global issues. We want to build a community interested in the world around us and how we can shape it. With many academic, volunteer and career events throughout the year, we aim to bring together people from all backgrounds and spark discussion between those interested in Sociology and issues of social justice. We want to do this through exploring current socio-political issues, such as humanitarian crises and social inequality, from an academic lens, whilst also working on on-ground action to do our part towards raising awareness on and fighting for these issues.
We will be discussing the refugee crisis, humanitarian crises, the Black Lives Matter movement, COVID-19, gender inequality, politics and more. One of our biggest aims is to provide more volunteering opportunities, allowing students to devote their time to special causes on and off campus. We’ll also be hosting alumni events and career opportunities tailored more towards sociology and social justice, giving students a chance to explore the range of options available for when they choose to enter the workforce. We also want to take on board any suggestions members have, and make this a society somewhere where they can always contribute and learn something new. Now, more than ever, there is a need for social change, and you can be a part of it! We want members from all degree courses so come and join us to gain a greater awareness about the world that you live in and get to know like-minded individuals!
