Founded in 2019 the Social Policy Society was started as a way to encourage a greater sense of community both within the Social Policy department and outside of it. We saw just how vital it was that all of our course members not only had the opportunity to socialise and learn from their coursemates but those on other courses too! During the 2024/2025 academic year we are excited to continue building on the work of previous years and give you the opportunity to engage in a number of policy based exercises that will give you the chance to apply your course based knowledge to real world exercises.
We are looking forward to bringing you many events throughout the year! This includes the introduction of ‘Policy & Pints’ that will be a fortnightly social bringing together our members for a policy mapping style exercise which will then be followed by an opportunity for everyone to catch up and chat over a drink (non-alcoholic options available).
The Social Policy Society has a core committee that includes the President, Secretary and Treasurer. There are no variations in memberships and everyone has an equal opportunity to get involved as they please. We want people to have the ability to engage in society in the academic or the social sense, whatever works for you! The membership fee is £1.50 as we want to ensure membership is open to everyone.
