Ethics today for a better tomorrow!
Choosing sustainably and ethically is something we, as students, must do in order to change the future our predecessors have created. Us, the new generation, have to break the cycle and change habits so that our tomorrow isn’t compromised – we have to change. Though, as Tesco says, every little helps.
That’s why, as Ethics and Sustainability Advisor, I want to:
- Improve and maintain sustainable sourcing of all LSE food and drink, especially meat, with transparency on where exactly it originates from.
- Make sure LSE listens to what students want when it comes to investing money into the school, and also reporting on where else LSE invests our money in, available as a public report.
- Create a more diverse governance of student-led activities by encouraging under-represented groups to participate in leadership opportunities.
I also wish to participate in advocacy initiatives, particularly promoting exciting sustainability methods e.g.
- Creating a monthly detox-day, perhaps bringing in therapy dogs and creating a relaxing environment where the internet and devices aren’t used.
- Working on another fashion show, with themes relating to eco-sustainability, diversity and current social issues.
- Encouraging vegan/vegetarian diets with a Food Festival and Competition.
