The social elevator is broken… just like the library elevator.

Hi everyone! I'm Aysha and I’m running for Social Mobility and Class Officer.

Through liaising with the SU, coordinating campaigns and actively communicating with students, I hope to allow students from low socio-economic backgrounds to feel supported, respected and proud to be a part of LSE.

Three Key Aims:

Improving experience

  • Set and carry out annual objectives which aim to improve the undergraduate and postgraduate experience of working-class and low-income students.
  • Connecting eligible low-income students with opportunities to maximise their potential during university and beyond.
  • Equipping committees to run societies at lower costs, extra grant/sponsorship application guidance so underprivileged students can participate.

Raising awareness

  • SOCIAL MOBILITY CAMPAIGN WEEK – raising awareness of class culture, the low-income university experience, and destigmatising conservations around money.

Collaboration:

  • Strengthen our ties with other societies within LSE, as well as other inter-university organisations in the UK to deliver a greater movement for social mobility.

My experiences have strengthened my ties to the community and broadened my support network, exposing me to people with both common and diverse interests. I hope to use these experiences as Social mobility and Class Officer to effectively create an awareness across campus and improve the experiences for my fellow peers.

Best,

Aysha
