Hi! I'm Maarya and I’m currently reading for a MSc in Comparative Politics, prior to this I completed another MSc, in Education, from the University of Oxford.
Since joining LSE, I’ve been representing my cohort & PGT students from the Department of Government at the Consultative Forum and the Department Teaching Committee. Now, I want to use this experience to stand as your education officer. If elected I will…
Community: build a stronger LSE community
- Build on existing inclusion & diversity training to include academic advisers
- Lobby to address underrepresentation of BAME academics, doctoral students, and undergrads
- Ensure fair treatment for students affected by the pandemic (including visa facilitation & covid regs for international students)
Opportunity: expand on current opportunities
- Expand access to internships in the summer,
- introduce micro-internships at competitive and international organizations
- introduce a career-set policy post-graduation
- Facilitate more interdisciplinary networking between departments
- Expand on electives course choice outside of your program regs
Direct communication: between students and Education Officer
- Improve feedback forms to include students’ expectations of modules
- Work with the Democracy Review
Experience
- Ensure access to mental health & wellbeing services are easy to navigate
- Improve course selection
- Fight for department-wide standardization of assessments (i.e. online exams, deferrals)
